Lot Essay

The crest and coronet are those of John Augustus, Lord Hervey (1757-179) who married Elizabeth,m daughter of Colin Drummond, in 1779. Lord Hervey, a captain in the Royal Navy, was the eldest son of the 4th Earl of Bristol who was also the Bishop of Derry, an inveterate traveller after whom many luxury hotels are named on the continent.
