Worked in blue and yellow cotton on a white ground in thirty-three squares, the central large square depicting an anchor flanked by two stars and various names with their navy titles flanked by squares, each square depicting a sailor at work and inscribed underneath with names, titles and memorials surrounded by a triple blue and white border, the outermost with sawtooth pattern and scalloped edge, with ocean waves quilting, inscribed at the lower right corner "CARRIE LAKE/1944/GOODLAND KANSAS"
