Thomas Parker (1761-1833) was an apprentice of David Rittenhouse (1732-1796) and John Wood (-1761). From 1783 to 1793, he is known to have been both a maker and merchant, often importing clock works and cases from England. This eight-day bracket clock, with its bell strike, crown-wheel escapement, and calendar mechanism is typical of the sophisticated timepieces sold by Parker. A similar clock is recorded in the Winterthur Library: Decorative Arts Photographic Collection, 66.3359.
