Born in Jersey City, New Jersey in 1935, Henry Dunay quickly found his way to the world of jewelry. Starting as an errand boy, at the age of fourteen, he worked in New York City for Caccioli, a jeweler on Canal Street. After a comprehensive seven year apprenticeship, Dunay at the age of twenty-one expanded and opened his own company, Henry Dunay Designs. Inc.
Now with forty years of experience and forty-three awards for unique design, Dunay is a member of the Council Fashion Designers of America and co-founder of the American Jewelry Design Council. His world wide recognition and extraordinary creative genius are reflected by his notable patrons, Hillary Rodham Clinton, former first lady Nancy Reagan, actresses Linda Evans and Jill Eilkenberry and the Princess of Wales. What seems to attract all of his patrons, is his profound devotion to the most sensuous attribute of each material utilized in relation to nature, created with the finest craftmanship and marketed as a unique statement to emphasize ones identity.
This fantastic "Midsummer" bracelet, winner of the Diamonds Today award, is part of the Cynnabar collection. Originally inspired by a museum visit in Taiwan, the Cynnabar collection successfully translates ideas and objects from the Eastern culture into jewelry. The main elements, 18K yellow gold and platinum embellished with diamond accents are further enhanced with texture as a mode to create depth and movement.
