In the manner of Burchard Precht, the later shaped divided mirror plate centering a reverse-cut floral clasp within bevelled mirrored slips surmounted by a later mirrored shaped cresting and a shaped mirrored pendant with reverse-cut flowers, all within a foliate-cast frame, elements to apron now lacking

Lot Essay

The distinctively architectural form of this mirror with scrolling frame executed in gilt-lead relates to the work of the sculptor and cabinet-maker Burchard Precht who worked at Drottingholm Palace from 1674. Other related mirrors attributed to Precht are illustrated in S. Wallin, Nordiska Museets Möbler fran Svenska Herremanshem, 1931, vol. I, fig. 337 and G. Child, World Mirrors, 1990, p. 297, fig. 678. Another mirror with similar scroll cresting from the collection of Garrick Stephenson was sold in these Rooms, 29 October 1993, lot 140.
