Jean Gourdin, called Père Gourdin, recorded in Paris 1737-1763

An identical suite of white-painted furniture, possibly including the present pieces, is illustrated in G.B. Pallot, L'Art du Siège au XVIIIe Siècle en France, 1987, p. 117. Fourteen chairs from the same suite were also sold at Christie's London, 19 May 1983, lot 68.
