The cannelee case cast with foliate scrolls against a matted ground, the white enamel Roman dial with blued steel moon hands and alarm ring below, signed Le Roy & Fils Palais Royal 13-15 Paris, the silvered lever platform with bimetallic balance, strike/repeat alarm on two bells via three hammers, with two-position strike selection lever to the underside; leather travelling case

Lot Essay

Le Roy et Cie, Paris. The business was founded circa 1785 by Basile Charles Le Roy who soon after the Revolution moved into the address at Galerie Montpensier, 13 & 15 Palais Royal. The firm was subsequently inherited by his son Charles-Louis, but by 1845 had been sold to Casimir Halley Desfontaines on condition that the name was kept.
