The deep bowl resting on an inset, high ring foot painted in underglaze blue on the exterior with four rectangular panels containing a peony medallion linked by two sets of upright geometric panels below a wide band of fretwork and above a line of circles and 'x's'; the well of the bowl painted with a large, stylized flower medallion bordered by two narrow lines and with a band of arching foliate scroll beneath the blue rim, the character su (longevity) inscribed in underglaze blue on the base--6in. (15.2cm.) diameter, 3½in. (9cm.) high
