Of oblong shape with flat large sides set on a rectangular base and decorated in red and gold takamaki-e, colored ivory and mother-of-pearl with maple leaves floating on a stream, the ripples in gold hiramaki-e on a black lacquer ground sprinkled with nashiji, bubbles of inlaid silver, stopper wood lacquered in brown and nashiji--8¾in. (22.3cm.) high
