Of rectangular shape with hinged and domed cover, decorated with rectangular panels of vines, wisteria and fruiting trees rendered in gold, brown and black lacquer, within inlaid mother-of-pearl borders and further bands of foliate scrollwork and linked mother-of-pearl chevrons, the lid additionally ornamented by a central band of inlaid mother-of-pearl shippo patterns, the interior black lacquer; mounted with gilt copper hinges, lock-plate engraved with flowers, hasp, carrying handles and two bosses in the form of chrysanthemum buds--8¾ x 5 1/8 x 6 1/8in.
