A PARCEL-GILT BRONZE FIGURE OF KANNON

Seated dhyanasana in loose robes cast in wide pleats over the knees and in diagonal folds over the torso, a scarf over the shoulders and upper arms, the head adorned by a gilded filigree crown covering the tall usnisa which is applied with glass roundels over gilt Sanskrit characters and hung with beaded tassels and two long ribbons, an elaborate matching necklace covering the chest, the face and torso and the crown and jewellery gilt, the urna of inlaid glass, the fingers closed as if to hold a willow branch and flask, now missing; two rectangular attachment-struts pierced with small holes on the back--12½in.
