For a full discussion of the Lotus Sutra dedicated in 1667 see lot 338. The dedication scroll lists the name Gonsojo Takakata of the Samboin as the donor of this chapter.

In Chapter 15 (Yujutsubon, or Bodhisattvas from underground), many thousands of billions of bodhisattvas spring up from underground simultaneously (here shown floating on clouds) and come to pay homage to the Many-treasures Tathagata (Prabhutaratna) and to Shakyamuni Buddha who are seated side by side in the wonderful stupa of seven treasures hanging in the sky.
