The first of four cases with a negoro-nuri ground carved with cloud patterns, with an overlay of Daruma holding a fly whisk, the reverse with a temple pillar and a lantern, interior cases nashiji, fitted with a glass bead ojime and an ivory netsuke modelled as Daruma reading a book; the second of small rectangular shape decorated in gold, silver and black takamaki-e with pheasants and a pine tree on a gyobu-nashiji ground, interior cases nashiji, fitted with a soft metal ojime with flowering branches and a carved-nut netuske with a pine covered hut--3 1/8 and 1 7/8in.
