Yasuda Yukihiko was one of the founders of the Inten in 1914. He won the Asahi Culture prize in 1941 and the Order of Cultural Merit in 1948, and taught at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts, his alma mater, from 1944 to 1951.
The inscribed poem reads:

Tamadare no ogame ni saseru ume no hana,
yorozu youbeki shirushi narikeri
