The plate for Tête de jeune fille was worked at the house of the keen amateur etcher Dr. Paul Gachet, more famously the subject of van Gogh's portrait and etching (see lot 309). A friend of long standing of both the Cezanne and Pissarro families, he was one of the great early collectors of Impressionist and Post Impressionist painting.
