Lot Essay

The apocryphal signature on this drawing was very likely applied by the artist's friend, the renowned critic Félix Fénéon, who, with painters Maximilien Luce and Paul Signac, helped to inventory the contents of Seurat's studio, and whose initials and numbering appears on the reverse.
