Goldwater (1960, p.48, no.82) attributes a similar figure in the Wilder collection to the Bougouni District. They depict the ideal qualities of young marriageable women, according to information accompanying another of the same style in the Tannahill collection at the Detroit Art Institute (Kan and Sieber, 1995, p.46, no.6).
