Perrois (1986, p.72, 73; p.191) places the origin of this Kota style in the Obamba Mindumu Region. Two similar examples in the Girardin collection were shown in an exhibition of his collection in Paris in 1986 (Musée d'Art Moderne, 1986, pp.112-13, nos.59 and 60).
