Of toa wood, each side of the head carved with three masks in relief as eyes and nose, the former within rayed ornament, incised masks each side of the arched top and above the lateral 'arms', three bands of incised ornament below, the upper band linked to the 'nose' by two arms, the central band a stylized face, the lower band of hatched oval motifs, pierced through the flared butt, dark glossy patina
