Lot Essay

'I think that I paint the feelings aroused by superstition, by things that are magical, by things that live in our memory, by the earth and her shapes and colors. I portray the everyday life of certain people in our country (those among us who are closer to the land, those who in some way are America). I try to express within the setting of my litoral region that which is national in its mythical origin, that which runs deep and beyond the large fields and countless heads of cattle, that which is the spititual core of people and which connects us all to universal Man. I try to do this within the language of painting.'
