Lot Essay

The influence of French forms and motifs on work produced by the Avila and Guerra families in Guatemala is well illustrated in this sauceboat. It is interesting to note that the decoration is applied, rather than chased. The same marks are illustrated in Cristina Esteras Martín, La Platería del Museo Franz Mayer, 1992, p. 249.
