Comprising a bracelet--7 in., Vahe Naltchayan; and a necklace--15½ in., Vahe Naltchayan (2)
Vahe Naltchayan, born into a third generation jewelry design family in Beirut Lebanon, studied locally before moving to France and then Italy, where he won an award from Luigi Dal Trozzo in 1976.
Moving to the United States in 1980, Vahe Naltchayan designed jewelry inspired by Greek, Turkish, Israeli and Indian ancient cultures for Barry Kieselstein-Cord. Following this highly successful period, he joined his brother Vatche, a general manager also employed by Kieselstein-Cord, to create their own company in 1985, Trompe L'oeil Fashion Enterprises Ltd.
In 1987, the Byzantine influenced Artemis, Ionic Column, Pyramid, Helios, and Classical Heart collections were introduced, drawing much attention and bringing international accolades. Vahe Naltchayan, credited with creating the Acid Wash Matte Finish found in all his creative designs, continues to set standards for excellence. (2)
