THE MUNSTERS, 1964-1966
A head appliance worn by actor Fred Gwynne as "Herman Munster" in the classic monster comedy of the 1960s; the gray appliance was key to the "Frankenstein" style of "Herman's" look. The foam latex piece is designed in a square blockhead style, complete with scar and stitching. Molded to the size of the star's scalp, it was fastened and gently fitted into place with tweezers. Artist Karl Silvera was responsible for the daily two hour transformation of the actor. Accompanied by a color photograph of Fred Gwynne in the make-up chair on the set of "The Munsters" and a color photograph of the actor as "Herman"--8 x 10 in. and similar.
