A GERMAN SILVER-PLATED CENTERPIECE WITH BLUE GLASS BOWL, maker's mark of WMF, circa 1910, oxidized silver plated partly brass and partly Britannia-metal, in the neo-Classical style, formed as a female Classical emblematic figure holding a pen and open book, supported on openwork cylindrical stem composed of varying warriors divided by palemette strap, raised on four shell headed paw supports, her head supporting shallow circular bowl, with gallery border with confronting griffins, divided by ribbon tied wreath, the top bowl and cylindrical stem, each with detachable blue glass liner--18in. (45.7cm.) high and 13in. (33cm.) diam.
