Conceived circa 1885-1887 and cast in an edition of 12 between 1930 and 1970 plus one proof for the Rodin Museum collection. The present work was cast in 1959 and is recorded in the Musée Rodin archives.

Lot Essay

Conceived circa 1885-1887, this composition dates from Rodin's first work on La porte d'enfer, where it appears twice, once by itself and again as the male figure in the group Fugit Amor.
