Lot Essay

Australia won the earlier match by 5 wickets at a time when the four-ball over was still in use. In the later match (not part of the official series), a score of 453 by the Eleven of England was almost enough to gain them an innings victory but Australia clung to the draw. Scotton scored 134, Attewell made 84 and took ten wickets. This time, Shrewsbury did not play.
