A GEORGE III MAHOGANY AND LATER-PAINTED PEMBROKE TABLE

The oval top painted in polychrome with ribbon-tied festoons, flowers and scrolling acanthus, the top centred by a butterfly, the frieze with a fitted drawer on square tapering similarly-decorated, on brass caps and leather castors, the drawer stamped Edwards & Roberts
35in. (89cm.) wide open, 27in. (69cm.) deep, 29in. (74cm.) high

Edwards & Roberts was a retailer and manufacturer of furniture in London at the end of the 19th century. Better known for their distinctively inlaid classically inspired furniture, it is probable that this table was stamped and decorated in the contemporary fashion when sold through their premises
