The Dolly sisters were discovered by Flo Ziegfeld in 1911 and were included in his Follies of that year. Raised on Manhattan's Lower East side, the vivacious identical twins were of Hungarian origin. Roszicka had changed her name to Rosie and Jancsi became Jenny. As part of the great Ziegfeld's legendary troupe and clad in magnificent, exotic costumes, the popularity of the beautiful twins quickly soared in the United States and later spread to Europe. Millionaires were smitten by them regularly. Jenny, the more gregarious of the two, became a regular at Monte Carlo's casinos where she won and lost vast sums of money and became famous for her collection of jewels. Rosie, the quieter sister, eventually married a wealthy businessman from Chicago. A movie entitled The Dolly Sisters, was made in 1945 by Twentieth Century Fox, with Betty Grable and June Haver in the leading roles.
