of lilac satin with blunt toe, the peaked toe-cap and centre front seam worked in ivory silk with chain stitch and knots, the top trimmed with a pair of tassels, with elasticated sides and matching covered heel of 1½in. (4cm), lined in linen and inscribed Mrs Hazeldine 8372, 1860s
