The case with brass-veneered oakcarcass on bun feet with pierced fishscale sound fets to the sides, the stepped top with bevelled glass viewing aperture and large baluster and reeded handle, the arched silvered dial with Roman chapter ring and subsidiary seconds, blued steel fleur de lys hands, signed James McCabe, Royal Exchange London 2610, engraved below with scrolling foliage and with two large diameter calendar rings for date and day of week with blued steel hands, the massive five pillar twin chain fusee movement with typical underslung lever platform with three-arm balance and flat blued steel hairspring, unusual hour strike on two very large bells being struck simultaneously by two large brass-headed hammers, strike/silent lever to top left hand corner and signed in the centre James McCabe London. 2610; with purpose made mahogany travelling box with glazed front and blue velvet-lined interior
