Set with a cushion-shaped ruby weighing 4.51 carats within a rose-cut diamond-set openwork gallery and mount, circa 1900 (six small diamonds deficient)
With certificate 9107002 dated 4/7/1991 from the Gübelin Gemmological Laboratory stating that the ruby is of Burmese origin with no evidence of thermal treatment
Among Burmese rubies, the term "pigeon blood" is reserved for those stones which display a richness and purity of colour which contains neither pink nor purple overtones. This stone, over 4 carats and of good clarity, provides an excellent example of this colour, and is further enhanced by the excellent properties of its cutting.
