With steep rounded sides and slightly flaring rim, the exterior all under an opaque even lemon yellow enamel stopping neatly above the foot 3 1/2 in. (9 cm.) diam., box

Lot Essay

A pair of similar cups from the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities, Stockholm, is illustrated by Jan Wirgin in the B.M.F.E.A., no. 50, 1978, 'Chinese Ceramics from the Axel and Nora Lundgren Bequest', pl. 58a, no. 77. A similar cup from the Collection of Dr. Ip Yee was included in the Min Chiu Society Exhibition, An Anthology of Chinese Ceramics, 1980, Catalogue, no. 128 and by the same Society in their Exhibition of Monochrome Ceramics of Ming and Ch'ing Dynasties, Catalogue, no. 87. A pair from the S.C. Ko Tianminlou Collection is illustrated in the Catalogue, vol. I, col. pl. 139; another pair from the Paul and Helen Bernat Collection was sold in Hong Kong, 15 November 1988, lot 59.
