A RARE PAIR OF DOUCAI SAUCERS
YONGZHENG SIX-CHARACTER MARKS WITHIN DOUBLE SQUARES AND OF THE PERIOD

Each similarly decorated in Chenghua style, the interiors delicately penciled with a scrolling vine issuing two clusters of purple and yellow grapes and fine spiralling tendrils, the exterior with two detached branches of ripe fruiting peaches separated by a further branch of iron-red flowering and fruiting pomegranate and a cluster of pale blue flowers

Yongzheng-marked dishes with this decoration are extremely rare and no other example appears to have been published.

The Chenghua prototype was included in the special exhibition, A Legacy of Chenghua, Imperial Porcelain of the Chenghua Reign Excavated from Zhushan, Jingdezhen, 1993, Catalogue, no. C117, described as 'dishes for resting chopsticks'.
