A DATED IRON-RED-DECORATED 'TEA-POEM' BOWL
IRON-RED QIANLONG SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD

The rounded sides rising steeply to a flaring rim, the exterior enamelled with an Imperial poem and dated Qianlong binyin between borders of ruyi-heads interspersed with trefoils reserved on an iron-red ground, the centre of the interior with pine, finger citrus and bamboo below further bands of ruyi-heads and trefoils at the well and rim

Lot Essay

The reign date Qianlong bingyin corresponds to the eleventh year of Qianlong, A.D. 1746.

A similar cup and companion decorated in underglaze-blue is illustrated in the Special Exhibition of Kang Hsi, Yung-cheng and Chi'en-lung Porcelain ware from the National Palace Museum, 1987, no. 142.
