"Markham" letter written from the British Consul in Shanghai to George Markham in Arcadia bearing a faint strike of "SHANGHAE/PAID" overstruck by London transit and "16 CENTS" accountancy mark, rated "1/8" and with a good strike of "CHICAGO AM. PKT." c.d.s. in blue whilst the reverse with Shanghai and Hong Kong c.d.s.; the seal has been cut from the back of the envelope which has been roughly opened at the top, with the original letter
