The thick, polished disc pierced with a single hole, suspended from an amber bead by a cord, the flawless highly trnanslucent stone an intense emerald green colour

For a similar yupei in the Imperial Collection see "Qingdai Houfei Shoushi", p.128 no. 295. Such circular pendants were derived from the centre of bangles, but are extremely rare as it is difficult for such a large piece of jadeite to be completely flawless and a consistent colour at the same time. Strung onto cords with matching beads they were left unadorned so that the beauty of the material could be appreciated
