In jadeite, perhaps the most important quality of colour is brilliance, or cui. Also known as jiao, (sharp) or la (spicy); it is this quality which make the best greens stand out with such an attractive warmth against the skin. The cabochons shown here , especially lot 1491, exemplify this quality; the latter being accompanied by an equally unusual transparancy and exceptionally fine texture
