A FINE AND RARE PAIR OF IRON-RED DECORATED 'DRAGON AND PHOENIX' JARS
IRON-RED DAOGUANG SEAL MARKS AND OF THE PERIOD

Each baluster jar similarly decorated in shaded tones of iron-red enamel with a striding five-clawed dragon and a fanciful phoenix with fine plumage reserved on a dense peony meander with flowers in various stages of bloom, the shoulder with a border of overlapping ruyi- heads below linked florettes, the waisted neck with a formal lotus- scroll, the base encircled with stylized lotus petals, the rims and borders gilt
