A VERY RARE TEADUST-GLAZED BOMBE CENSER
INCISED XIANFENG SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD

Finely potted with slightly compressed sides rising from a short ring foot, the shoulders with a pair of lion-mask handles suspending fixed rings, evenly covered in an opaque olive-green glaze of characteristic tone thinning at the rim and moulded handles, the interior and the base slightly darker (rim frits restored)

An identical censer was included in the Shanghai Museum special exhibition of Selected Ceramics from the Collection of Mr. & Mrs. J.M. Hu, 1989, Catalogue, no. 96.
