Lot Essay

Wu Zhifan, of the Jiading School, was active during the reign of Kangxi (1662-1722), and was well-known for his depiction of depth in bamboo carvings. See the article by Zhu Shuyi, 'Bamboo Carving of the Jiading School', Orientations, February 1991, pp. 67-71.
