A CHENGHUA-STYLE BLUE AND WHITE STEMCUP
YONGZHENG MARK AND OF THE PERIOD

The rounded sides rising to a slightly flared rim and resting on a hollow splayed foot, the exterior painted in Chenghua style with the Eight Buddhist Emblems, or ba bao, supported on stylized clouds above interlocking ruyi-shaped panels, all bewteen line borders (kiln crack and associated hairline)

Compare with the Chenghua prototype for this pattern photographed beside a similar Yongzheng-marked stemcup from the collections of Sir Percival David and Edward T. Chow, is illustrated by Harry Garner, Oriental Blue and White, pl. 37. Another Yongzheng-marked cup of this pattern from the Chang Collection sold in Hong Kong, 13 November 1990, lot 7.
