A PAIR OF DATED IRON-RED-DECORATED 'TEA-POEM' BOWLS
IRON-RED QIANLONG SEAL MARKS AND OF THE PERIOD

Each of the rounded sides rising steeply to flaring rims, the exterior enamelled with an Imperial poem and dated Qianlong bingyin between borders of ruyi-heads interspersed with trefoils reserved on an iron-red ground, the centre of the interior with pine, finger citrus and bamboo below further bands of ruyi-heads and trefoils at the well and rim

Lot Essay

The reign date Qianlong bingyin corresponds to the eleventh year of Qianlong, A.D. 1746.

A similar cup and companion decorated in underglaze-blue is illustrated in the Special Exhibition of Kang-hsi, Yung-cheng and Chi'en-lung Porcelain ware from The National Palace Museum, Catalogue, 1987, no. 142.
