A JADEITE, PEARL AND DIAMOND FLOWER BASKET PENDANT
Designed as a bright apple green jadeite basket with pearl and gold handle and base, decorated with a pearl, diamond, jadeite and ruby flower amidst green jadeite and circular-cut diamond leaves, circa 1920, probably dismantled from a Qing dynasty hairpin
Overall dimensions 80.2 x 75.6 x 3.8 mm.
The motif of flower within vases was a perennial favourite as the word for vase (ping), was a pun for peace (ping an). This combined well with the meaning of many flowers to make different auspicious rebuses.
