Lot Essay

Cf. a similar but smaller dish, sold in our London Rooms, 9 June 1997, lot 97.

It is interesting to note that the flowers on the present dish relate quite well to the painting quality of the flowers painted on famille verte 'month'cups, and that most emblematic flowers found on 'month' cups are represented as one of the loose sprigs on this dish.
