A FINE UNDERGLAZE-BLUE AND COPPER-RED 'EIGHT IMMORTALS' BOWL
QIANLONG SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD

Painted on the exterior with the Eight Daoist Immortals with their characteristic attributes, Li Tieguai with a gourd, Zhongli Quan with a peach sailing on a mythical creature, He Xiangu with a fly whisk sailing on a willow bough, Lu Dongbin with a fierce-looking demon behind him, Zhang Guolao sailing on his characteristic musical instrument, yugu, Cao Guojiu with castanets, Han Xiangzi with a flute sailing on a crab and Lan Caihe with a flower basket on a fish, all on a wave ground painted in underglaze red above a key-fret band encircling the foot, the interior with a central roundel of Shoulao accompanied by a deer below clouds and on a similar wave ground
