The raised and detachable central medallion carved with two sinuous dragons each facing a flaming pearl at the centre, the cloud-shaped support carved at the edges with intertwined cloud-scrolls and bats, all on a finely pierced scroll ground, pierced at the top and bottom for suspension, details enhanced with traces of red and green pigments, surface overall slightly discoloured

The finely detailed carving on this lot compares well to three Qianlong dated stained ivory pieces included in the Palace Museum, Beijing & The Art Gallery, The Chinese University of Hong Kong joint exhibition Tributes from Guangdong to the Qing Court, 1987, Catalogue, no. 63 a purse; no. 64 a openwork octagonal box; no. 65 a flower-form box.
