by Mathieu, with unusual bow-saw with scissor-action tensioning handle, the guards of ebony, a trepanning brace with accessories, a curved trocar and canula, various Liston knives, a chain-saw with ebont handles, various tweezers, scoops, scalpels and similar items, various specula, a tourniquet, a tooth-key with three extra claws, a surgical hammer, various probes, a cased Portain's Aspirator with accessories, a case containing needles, clamps and wire, by Mathieu, and other items, all contained in a red-stained chamois leather-lined walnut case with maker's list of contents applied to the inner covering of the lid, the case signed Mathieu, Paris on the brass lock, with two recessed folding brass carrying-handles, the lid inset with a brass plaque engraved Dr Manoel, the case -- 22¾ (57.8cm.) wide
