Details
Château Latour--Vintage 1929
Pauillac, 1er cru classé. Château-bottled
Re-corked at the Château in 1966. Labels: six are of excellent appearance and six are to varying degrees affected by damp causing both tissues and straws to adhere to the labels. Excellent levels: eleven base of neck or better and one upper-shoulder
In original wooden case
Tasting note: Latour made superlative wine in 1929. Impressively deep, even for Latour, opaque centre, lovely and lively; a truly exciting, richly scented nose, spicy cloves, eucalyptus, sage. On the palate: immensely sweet and rich for a Médoc, for Latour. Well-endowed with alcohol, extract and fruit. Velvety. A wonderfully full, elongated, shape in the mouth, with marvellous length and glorious aftertaste. Five stars, one is tempted to add a sixth. (GVWB II)
