TOP-QUALITY BURGUNDY OF THE HIGHLY REGARDED 1990 VINTAGE Lying in Burton on Trent Offered duty-paid, but available in bond The 1990 vintage for Red Burgundy has an equally high reputation either side of the Atlantic. The rare combination of rain and sun at critical periods of the growing season caused the grapes to develope ripe tannins and fruit, which in turn has led to the 1990 vintage being compared with the great 1947 and 1959 vintages. While acidity levels are generally the situation was similar with the 1947s and did nothing to impair the quality and longuevity of those wines. The following wines were all purchased en primeur by the present owner and have lain undisturbed in the same excellent conditions since original shipment. The quality of the vintage will ensure that these wines mature beautifully and continue to give pleasure for many decades

Côte de Nuits. Bouchard Père et Fils
The 2.5 acre Grand Cru vineyard of La Romanée is the smallest AC in France. It is sited just above La Romanée-Conti and is bordered to the north by Richebourg. La Romanée is made by Forey Père on behalf of the owners, the Ligier-Belair family, it is then matured in 100 new oak casks in the cellars of Bouchard Père who are also responsible for bottling the wine.
La Romanée resembles the wines of Richebourg most, being deeply coloured, rich and concentrated with abundant fruit, body and tannin. The 1990 should be superb
