A UNIQUE COLLECTION OF MATURE PIEDMONTESE WINES FROM LEADING PRODUCERS Recently removed from a private cellar in Turin and now lying duty-paid, London S.E.1 The following wines, lots 1-116, form part of a larger collection, amassed by the late father of the present owner during the period 1945-1975. During the post-war years, the father, as both specialist wine merchant and restauranteur, commenced his purchasing activity by acquiring the best wines then available, mainly directly from the cellars of the most respected Piedmontese producers. All were then stored in the ancient vaulted cellars beneath his Turin establishment. Over the years, the majority were intended for the owners eventual personal consumption and enjoyment. For the last 20 years however, they have remained largely untouched and forgotten in the same cellars. Following the recent death of the father and subsequent enforced sale of his premises, the current owner has decided to consign this substantial portion of the remaining wines for sale at Christies. We have already had the opportunity to taste a wide selection of the wines which have been mainly of excellent quality. All wines here were inspected and packed in situ by Christie's Wine Department with any bottles of questionable appearance, reduced level or poor colour being rejected. A comprehensive selection of these wines will be available at the pre-sale tasting. The whole will be offered subject to these samples. No returns will be accepted.
